NEW PLANTING OF PEDRO XIMENEZ GRAPES IN OUR VINEYARDS

We concluded the planting of 6 hectares in our Panadero plot of our vineyards

This week we finished the new planting of Pedro Ximénez in our Panadero plot in El Majuelo vineyard. This project began last year when the six hectares of the land were scorched to refresh and aerate it. This year, once the land was ready and optimal, we received the plants from the nurseries known as “barbados”. The “barbados” are vitis vinifera plants with roots of the American variety (rootstock) immune to Phylloxera and pre-grafted with the Pedro Ximénez variety. This procedure spread throughout Europe, since the 19th century, throughout all the vineyards as a way of combating the serious problem of Phylloxera.

Once we received the “barbados” we proceeded to prepare them for planting. To do this, first, we did a quality control where its thickness, internode, length, vitality and the state of the graft were measured, followed by its hydration and a treatment against wood fungus and its subsequent mechanical planting. Next year we will begin to direct the line and the new vineyard, as well as continue with new plantations.

The Regulatory Council resumes face-to-face training seminars

The Regulatory Council for Sherry Wine recovers 100% in-classroom training with a program made up of 17 courses. The Training Classroom has seminars and classes of different lengths and contents, focused on both professionals and amateurs. On April 2nd, our Head of Oenology and Master Blender Antonio Florido and team gave the introductory seminar on our Sherry Wines, forming part of the tastings that are organized monthly.

FIRST BRANDY MUSEUM IN THE PHILIPPINES

Emperor makes our brandies and history known to the world

Emperor Inc., our parent company, opened the doors to the first Philippine Brandy Museum in Iloilo Business Park last January. The museum offers a tour detailing our rich history through our brands. With its decoration it emulates our winery and the history of Fundador, the first Spanish brandy. Additionally, the museum has preserved books, letters, traditional tools and samples of our albariza soil. They also have audio-visual presentations that show our vineyard and our winery, the process of creating oak barrels, and for those that are most interested, the museum has interactive Brandy Appreciation classes on the process of brandy production. The comprehensive display offers a practical vision through an enriching experience on the surprising world of Brandy de Jerez.

RAFAEL RENDÓN, EUROPEAN AWARD FOR THE BEST PROFESSIONAL CAREER 2022

Our General Manager awarded by the European Society for Social and Cultural Development

We congratulate Rafael Rendón, our General Manager, who received the European Award for Best Professional Career 2022 by the European Society for Social and Cultural Development. This well-deserved award recognizes professionals, institutions or companies that play an active and fundamental role in achieving a future marked by excellence. In this way, said organization aims to recognize this commitment and give visibility to progress and growth for the whole society.

The awards ceremony was held on January 21st at the Westin Palace Hotel in Madrid, where the award-winning business leaders, representatives of institutions, as well as various media gathered. The award was presented by Father Ángel García, founder and president of Messengers of Peace and Prince of Asturias Concord Award recipient in 1994.
