Probing into the scientific understanding of wine distillates
We have just signed a research collaboration agreement with the University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR) to study the quality of wine distillates. The objective of this work is to increase the sensory and chemical understanding of wine distillates, to establish a scientific methodology that will allow us to know the composition and organoleptic properties of our distillates.
This project is yet another of the many investigative research studies we have conducted in collaboration with learning institutions of high Scientific and Oenological prestige in Spain, resulting in several Doctoral Theses that have been carried out and the publication of numerous articles in important scientific journals and participation in international conferences. The conclusions of these studies will allow us to develop new brandies whose characteristics will help us to continue to increase our sales.
National Geographic highlights the important historical, cultural and oenological heritage that are housed in our winery and our contribution to the wine and spirits world. It is an honor to to be featured in this iconic publication.
This year marks 150th anniversary since phylloxera, the most devastating winemaking plague in history, infected the first vineyards dedicated to brandy production in France and from these lines we want to pay a well-deserved tribute and give thanks to the thousands of farmers who, since then, have dedicated their lives, knowledge and expertise to graft vines for dozens of years ensuring that today we can continue to make our wines and brandies in Europe. Thank you very much for such a necessary and sometimes undervalued job!
In May of this year we participated in the GIENOL 2022 National Oenological Research Conference where our researchers María Guerrero Chanivet and Daniel Butron Benitez, presented part of the most relevant scientific conclusions of their Doctoral Theses on the “The Influence of the types of sherry seasoning used in oak barrels on organoleptical characteristics in Brandies from Jerez” and the “Behavior of different types of spirits during their static and dynamic aging in Sherry Cask barrels”. We are very proud to promote scientific and oenological investigation and understanding of Brandies and Sherry Wines thanks to these future doctors.
Vinoble returns where we take part with our wines and Enology professionals
The International Fair for Fortified and Noble Wines (Vinoble) returned this spring to the historic Alcázar de Jerez, celebrating its XI edition from May 29 to 31. This exhibition has become much more than a cultural and promotional showcase, it is also an important event for professionals in the sector. Our presence is paramount in this fair, where we displayed a stand on the first floor of the palace where we showcased our products and had the presence of our Wine Tourism team along with our Winemaking experts, who shared their knowledge and the characteristics of our wines.
Additionally, our Head of Oenology, Antonio Florido, participated in one of the 18 tastings with other Winemakers of worldwide prestige, called “Interpreting the Jerez and Sanlucar wine estates” as well as presenting the impact of albariza soil on Sherry wines entitled “Minerals and fossils, the unique origin of the wines of Bodegas Fundador.”

During said gala, our director affirmed that prevention is the highest priority for our organization and recognized the efforts of all those who, without their collaboration, this award would not be possible, among others, our Prevention Technician, Francisco Gey, our Health and Safety Labor Committee, as well as the involvement and commitment of all the employees of Bodegas Fundador.
It is an honour to be among other important award-winning companies such as Mediamarkt, Danone, Ford, Generali, Sacyr, Fnac, Grifols,… and along side other finalists such as Grupo Bimbo, Henkel Ibérica, Hitachi, Norauto…

In honour of all the women who are part of our company
International Women’s Day calls for a special remembrance to reinforce our commitment and defense of the principles of respect and equality, which we have been implementing and applying in our company, through our code of conduct, corporate values, harassment policy and equality plan. This year there has, once again, been an increase in female employees, with currently 44 women present in all departments and areas of our organization. The continuous hiring, which we have and shall continue to foster, helps us to prosper as an organization, support equality as a fundamental right and promote our corporate values.
For this reason, on March 8th, we pay a sincere tribute to all the women who work at Bodegas Fundador. Thanks to their efforts and dedication, they contribute to improve the quality of our company day by day and advocate for a fairer and more equal society.
We had the honour of having the famous and award-winning Chef José Andrés at our stand at Copa Jerez 2021 enjoying our Harveys Fino where he pointed out the great character, allure and possibilities that our Sherry Wines have.
